Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

March 19, 2020 by Tonja 4 Comments

As promised, I’m going to try and give you meals that can be big batch, slow-cooker, or easy to make.  Not every meal has to be a “cooking project.”  Many of you are now tasked with feeding children and college kids lunch too.  This slow-cooker recipe has been one of my most popular over the years (my best friend from college still makes it).  It’s only 5 ingredients and it’s so easy but SO good.  This will get you through a few lunches or dinner during the week.  Make a double batch and freeze.

Be safe and be well,

Tonja

Scale

Ingredients

6 frozen skinless, boneless chicken breasts

1 (20 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce (I use Famous Daves Rich and Sassy)

1/2 cup Kraft Zesty Italian salad dressing

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 Tbls. Worcestershire sauce

salt and pepper

hamburger buns

Instructions

Place chicken in a slow cooker. Season with salt and pepper.

In a bowl, mix the barbecue sauce, Italian salad dressing, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.  Pour over the chicken.

Cover, and cook 3 to 4 hours on high or 6 to 8 hours on low.

Shred the chicken right in the slow-cooker and turn it down to warm.  Serve on top of your favorite buns or hoagies.

[…] I don’t know about you, but these days I’m doing more slow cooker stuff that I can also split and freeze. Tonight I’m trying this from my friend Tonja of Tonja’s Table! […]
