Strawberries taste completely different to me in the summer. When in season, their sweetness is enhanced exponentially and make this the most wonderful french summer dessert. Use your favorite red wine for marinating and enjoy an al fresco treat before summer is over. Oooh, and a dollop of whipped cream might be good too!
Summer Dessert—Red Wine Strawberries
Ingredients

- 2 pints strawberries
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 cups of dry red wine
- 1
tsp . vanilla
Instructions
- Hull the strawberries by taking a knife and cutting a circle around the stem of the strawberry. Slice some of the larger berries in half but leave most of the berries whole.
- Place strawberries in a large bowl and sprinkle with the sugar. Next add the wine and vanilla. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or up to 24 hours.
- Spoon into dessert bowls and serve.
