Ponzu sauce is a classic Japanese citrus sauce that can be used for grilled meats and fish. It’s really the most simple marinade you can make and the results are delicious. I would plan to marinate your steak at least 4 hours and preferably overnight. This five ingredient recipe will become your new easy, favorite weeknight dinner.
- 2 pounds sirloin steak
- 3/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup mirin
- 3 Tbls. lime juice
- 1 Tbls. orange juice
- Mix marinade ingredients together in a resealable zip-loc bag.
- Using a sharp knife make small slits in the steak to absorb the marinade.
- Place the steaks on the grill and cook until golden brown and slightly charred, 4 to 5 minutes. Turn the steaks over and continue to grill 3 to 5 minutes for medium-rare (an internal temperature of 135 degrees F), 5 to 7 minutes for medium (140 degrees F) or 8 to 10 minutes for medium-well (150 degrees F).
- Transfer the steaks to a cutting board or platter, tent loosely with foil and let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
